An activist lawyer, Madubuachi Idam, on Saturday said presidential candidates should stop using electricity as campaign promises.

Idam made the remark while lamenting over the collapse of the national grid which led to blackout.

DAILY POST had reported that there was a nationwide blackout in Nigeria around 3 pm on Saturday.

However, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, said bulk supply was partially restored by Transmission Company of Nigeria around 6:54 pm on Saturday.

Reacting, Idam faulted socio political commentators, Reno Omokri and Daniel Bwala, for defending President Bola Tinubu despite failure to provide adequate electricity supply.

In a chat with DAILY POST, Idam said: “Once again, I hear the national grid has collapsed. No gainsaying that the grid has become epileptic under this administration.

“Worst of all, scarcity of fuel rocks more now in Nigeria despite its outrageous price. Unfortunately, President Tinubu’s wannabe PRs (Reno Omokri and Daniel Bwala) are on social media defending him with every drop of their blood.

“I think the next Nigeria’s presidential aspirants must henceforth quit using electricity as campaign promises, because the more they promise to improve electricity in Nigeria, the worse it gets.”
