Group donates sanitary pads to 2,000 A’Ibom girls, empowers 400 youths

A leadership, mentoring and development organisation in Akwa Ibom State, Impact Beyond School Walls, has provided sanitary pads to over 2,000 girls and mentored several teenage girls in the state.

It also impacted over 400 youths across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The Founder/Creative Director of IBSW, Emem Ebong Eno, disclosed this while speaking a during menstrual hygiene campaign to mark the organization’s second-anniversary celebration in Uyo, tagged “Pad-A-Girl oroject on Friday.

He said the organisation has carried out other voluntary services and organized youth empowerment conferences for innovative young entrepreneurs in the last two years.

He added, “Impact Beyond School Walls is a capacity development outfit burdened with personal and capacity developments of youths in Nigeria. We have mentored several teen girls and provided sanitary wares to more than 2,000 girls and impacted over 400 male youths across schools in Akwa Ibom State.

“The organization has also carried out voluntary services and youth empowerment for innovative young entrepreneurs in the last two years.”

Eno listed the benevolent projects including Food for Hunger Relief project, where more than 50 poor families and 30 street children were supplied with food items during the yuletide in 2022 and the  Edu-Enhancement Project, which promotes back-to-school for children in different communities across the state.

Others projects undertaken by the organization include Gender and Development “projects such as  “Project 100 Girls in Tech,” where over 100 girls were given essential ICT training while data allowances were given to 20 girls and mini-grants to the three best participants.

Eno said this impact has been extended also to the boy-child as their gender inclusivity approach fostering a balanced society.

He said that the Choose Life Campaign, with the message ‘The Boy-Child Matters,’ was flagged off in June and on the 6th of July, 2024 convened the first boy-child conference, themed ‘Choose Life Conference, in Akwa Ibom State with over 400 boys in attendance.

He enthused, “Over 11 schools participated with awards given to the best schools with the best presentation. ‘Choose Life Conference’ points boys to their unique identity and the need to make priority-based decisions in life.”

The boy child conference was followed up with a physical and closed group life skills mentorship and mental health capacity building program for teen boys tagged ‘Teen Boys Meet.’

Eno shared the burden Impact Beyond School Walls has for individuals, the community and society at large and their commitment to strive for sustainable solutions in the coming years.
