Gunmen have abducted five students from the Enugu State College of Health Technology in the Oji River Local Government Area.

Naija News learnt that the incident occurred last Thursday evening while the students were leaving the school premises.

Confirming the incident, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement on Sunday, clarified that reports suggesting several students were abducted were exaggerated and misleading.

DSP Ndukwe stated that the police received a tip-off about the attack and quickly responded, managing to rescue two of the abducted students.

He, however, said that three other students remain missing,

He assured that a vigorous operation had been launched to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.

Gunmen Kill Cop In Fresh Anambra Police Checkpoint Attack

Meanwhile, the police checkpoint beside the Nnobi Police Station, along Nnobi/Nkpor Road in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Friday, was attacked by a group of gunmen.

According to Punch, the attack happened late on Friday after the hoodlums were said to have laid siege to the area.

The latest attack came less than three weeks after some gunmen, in a similar manner, attacked a police checkpoint on Omata-Nnobi Road in neighbouring Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of the State, and during which one police officer was also gunned down by the hoodlums, who also used an explosive device to launch the attack.

A source in the area who spoke with Punch said during the attack, one of the policemen was killed, adding that the deceased police officer was said to be the driver of one of the police vehicles.
