Harassment of citizens must stop – Human rights lawyer tells Nigerian Govt

1 week ago 3

A human rights lawyer, Liborous Oshoma has asked the Nigerian government to stop the harassment of citizens by security agencies.

Oshoma stated that the level of hunger in the country is giving room to the desire for protests in the country.

He made this known on Tuesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.

Commenting on the recent clamp down on the President of the Labour Congress NLC, Joe Ajaero, and the office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, in Abuja by the Department of State Services, DSS, the legal expert stated that arm-twisting and invading citizens’ homes or offices for no just cause must stop.

He said: “It is hunger that is giving room to the quest for protests in Nigeria.

“Nothing seems to be standing on the mandate of President Tinubu including food prices, fuel and electricity.

“Arm-twisting, and invading citizens’ homes or offices for no just cause must stop.”
