The Olukere of Odo Oja Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin, has harped on the need for citizens to continually pray for the country and its leaders, especially in the present circumstances of hardship and economic situation.

Obasoyin spoke in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State, during the grand finale of the 2024 Olosunta Festival, which he described as the New Year for the community and a moment to celebrate its hero as well as an opportunity to offer prayers.

The Olukere said, “President Bola Tinubu has been trying his best to make sure everything goes well. Most of the administration’s economic policies for now may give us long-term results. For this reason, it is tough for people in the country at present.”

The traditional ruler, who attributed the hunger, high prices and inflation in the country to the effects of fuel subsidy removal, begged the Federal Government to listen to the people and do something about the subsidy regime.

“I will appeal to the president that with the tough situation of things, he should see what we can do about the cost of fuel because this is where the major problem starts. It is good we drop the subsidy, but I think the government can do it in phases which will bring relief to the people,” the monarch stated.
