Hotel supervisor docked for allegedly stealing customer’s iPad

A 37-year-old hotel supervisor, Stanley Ogabi, was on Friday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a customer’s iPad worth N4.7million.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the defendant, who resides at 1, Lekan Salvage Close, Agbado, Ogun State, is charged with conspiracy and theft.

The prosecutor, John Christopher, told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 9, 2024 at an Hotel in Ikeja.

John said that the complainant, Mrs Elizabeth Henderson, checked into the hotel and upon checking out and arriving at her destination, she discovered that her Apple iPad worth N4.7 million was missing .

The prosecutor said that the complainant called the manager and he told her that he found the Apple iPad at the hotel.

Christopher said that the complainant told the manager to keep the iPad in his care.

“Upon her arrival, she was told that he had given the person she sent,” he said.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A Ogunjobi , admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunjobi adjourned the case until July 26 for mention.
