Stuntman and martial artist, Jeddy Odiboh, popularly known as Tough Bone, has shed light on his role in coordinating stunts for the movie series, ‘Oloture: The Journey’.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the five-time black belt holder in karate, explained, “Creating the stunts for the movie was a multi-faceted process that required careful planning, coordination, and adaptability. When I got the script, I had detailed discussions with the director to align our action scenes with the storyline and desired audience impact. We then assembled our elite team of stunt professionals and rented specific equipment, including specified bikes. After a week of intensive training, we experimented with various transitions and performances to ensure the stunts were both thrilling and realistic.”
Speaking on the integration of stunts into the narrative and ensuring safety on set, Odiboh said, “Stunt coordination involves extensive collaboration with directors, actors, and the crew. On the set of ‘Oloture’, I worked closely with everyone to ensure the stunts were safe and seamlessly integrated into the narrative. Communication was crucial, and we maintained a clear hierarchy, respecting each person’s role in order to avoid overlaps in responsibilities. Regular rehearsals and open dialogue were essential to synchronise our efforts in bringing the script to life. By meticulously planning and rehearsing every move, I was able to deliver realistic and impactful stunts while maintaining a strong focus on the well-being of the cast and crew. This diligence ensured that the action scenes were not only exciting, but also executed safely.
Reflecting on the dynamic nature of the stunt industry, Odiboh said, “Each project presents unique challenges that push us to innovate and expand creative boundaries. This continuous growth keeps the industry exciting and allows us to envision more dynamic and ambitious scenes. Every moment spent creating stunts is memorable, knowing that our contributions enhance the overall cinematic experience.”
