Humanitarian Minister, Nentawe Yilwatda, Mourns Lagbaja

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Nentawe Yilwatda, has mourned the death of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General, Taoreed Lagbaja.

Nentawe Yilwatda described General Lagbaja as a thoroughbred officer and a refined gentleman who exemplified the highest service standards, loyalty and patriotism.

In a statement, on Friday, Yilwatda said Lagbaja understood sustainable security is achieved not only by strength but through compassion, resilience and support for the vulnerable.

“It is with a deep sense of grieve that I, on behalf of the entire Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, extend our deepest condolences on the sudden and painful loss of our esteemed Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja. His passing is a monumental loss to Nigeria, and we join the nation in mourning this courageous and selfless leader.

“A thoroughbred officer and a refined gentleman, General Lagbaja exemplified the highest standards of service, loyalty, and patriotism. All through his military career and most recently under his outstanding command, the Nigerian Army became an unwavering ally in advancing the humanitarian and poverty reduction goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“He understood that sustainable security is achieved not only by strength but through compassion, resilience, and support for the vulnerable among us. His work has been invaluable to our shared mission, and the absence forced on us by this loss will be deeply felt all over our nation,” Yilwatda said.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs prayed to God to grant the soul of General Lagbaja eternal rest.

To his beloved wife, two children, extended family, friends, and the entire military community, we share this collective and national sorrow. We stand together in honouring his legacy, cherishing the impact of his dedication to a stronger, more compassionate Nigeria.

“May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and give comfort to all who mourn him,” he prayed.
