3 months ago 7

Scores of protesters took to the streets on Friday afternoon in Kano despite the 24 hour curfew imposed by the state government.

However, the demonstration did not last long as police officers in two vans dispersed the group of protesters that assembled along Sani Marshall Road in the Nassarawa local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP reports that the defiant protesters convergered on Tudun Wada area of the state and began their procession through the Sani Marshall Road when they encountered the police.

The police operatives blocked the protesters’ advance, arresting one of them who was eventually taken away.

The identity of the arrested protester remained unknown as at the time of this report.

The Kano State Government had relaxed the initially imposed curfew to allow Muslim faithful observe Juma’at prayers on Friday.

Despite this relaxation, the authorities maintained a strong presence on the streets to prevent further unrest.

Tension was however high in the state due to the violent #EndBadGovernance protest which took place in some areas of the state on Thursday resulting in looting and destruction of properties.
