Hundreds of youths joined the nationwide protest on Thursday in the Potiskum local government Area of Yobe State where they urged President Bola Tinubu to reverse the subsidy removal policy.
The youths made the demand this during their peaceful protest against alleged bad governance and hunger in the country.
One of the protesters stated that the protest was proposed to bring solutions to issues bedeviling the nation. “We are calling for the federal government to bring back fuel subsidy, bring down inflation and tackle insecurity in the nation.”
He highlighted a challenging period for citizens who find it difficult to afford necessities, including food, medication, and essentials commodities which was caused by hyperinflation resulting from the removal of fuel subsidies and depreciation of the naira.
Protesters also added, “We want fuel subsidy back, our people are suffering, hunger, insecurity, inflation of foods and others, we want government to consider our demands.”
Also, speaking to Journalists, another protester identified as Musa Abubakar, said, “We are here to show our demands and expressed our position to the government to look into our demands. This is our nation, we need peace in our land,” he said.
The peaceful protest held on Thursday in Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, Gaidam and Damaturu, the state’s capital.
