‘I Am Sorry Osimhen Left’ – Ex-Napoli Star, Marek Hamsik Says

Former Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, has expressed his feelings regarding Victor Osimhen’s transfer to Galatasaray, suggesting that there may have been non-football related factors involved.

Hamsik mentioned that he feels sorry to see Osimhen leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer.

Recall that Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray on a season-long loan without an option to buy followed unsuccessful transfer attempts to Chelsea and Al Ahli.

This move provided Osimhen with the opportunity to return to regular first-team football after being frozen out of Napoli’s squad due to his desire to leave the Italian Serie A side.

In response to Osimhen’s departure, Napoli acquired the services of Romelu Lukaku and Hamsik is pleased with the club’s transfer decision.

He said, “I am sorry Osimhen left, but it’s probably not entirely related to football. I am not involved in this, and Napoli signed a valuable replacement. Lukaku is a top striker and can easily score 20 goals.”

Note that Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli until 2027, and had attracted significant interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Additionally, there were reports of a substantial offer from Al Ahli, to which Napoli had requested further compensation, leading to complications in the negotiations.
