Nigerian-South African beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshin, has opened up on her struggle with identity crisis due to her dual citizenship.

She shared the personal challenges she encountered during her pageantry journey.

Recall that Adetshina had exited the Miss South Africa pageant amidst allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother by the South African Home Office.

She faced criticism in South Africa during her Miss South Africa contestant announcement.

The model later received an invitation from the Silverbird Group to join the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she accepted.

Speaking in a recent interview on the Big Friday Show with host Tacha from Big Brother Naija, Adetshina revealed that she has had a dream to become the next Miss Universe since 2017.

I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that goal,” she said.

Chidinma also revealed how she managed the identity crisis, “It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’. I had to shift my perspective to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges.”
