Victor Osimhen says he is enjoying life in his new home in Istanbul, where he is playing for Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, The PUNCH reports.
The former Sporting Charleroi player was met with thousands of enthusiastic Galatasaray fans who thronged the Istanbul Airport, Turkey, to welcome him as he arrived in the country at 3:30 am to complete his loan move.
Osimhen reciprocated the fans’ love by changing his bio while immediately deleting all traces of his parent club, Napoli, from his social media page and flaunted pictures and colours of Galatasaray.
Osimhen’s updated bio now reads, “Professional football player for Galatasaray and Super Eagles of Nigeria,” accompanied by a new display picture of a player with his face cropped out in a Galatasaray jersey.
His banner image featured his back with the number 45 shirt, carrying his daughter, symbolising a fresh chapter in his career.
In a recent interview with TuttoSport, the 25-year-old emphasised his love for his new home, asserting that he was happy.
“Istanbul is incredible. It’s a very big city; I didn’t know that. The most important thing is Galatasaray; the fans make this city great, which is fantastic for me, my family, and my friends.
“I’m very happy; it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I was very excited for my first match. When I entered the pitch for the first time for the warm-up, all the fans started shouting my name and applauding. This made me feel at home; I feel very good when I see their support.”
Osimhen has hit the ground running in Turkey, netting twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa, his dockbreaker. He has now scored two goals and provided four assists in four games.
