Nigerian comedian Layi Wasabi has revealed that he once left a date with someone who doesn’t believe in God. He said that the lady in question was unable to answer the question if she believed in God.
Layi, who recently won the best content creator award winner at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), said the girl had asked him about his belief in God to which he replied with a definite, Yeah. But when he asked her about her faith, she stammered. Layi said, “Sometimes you never know what you want until what you don’t want comes across to you. I was on a date with a girl sometimes and she asked me, “Do you believe in God? How is this a question? Definitely yeah. So I asked her what about you? ” And she was like ehn, like, am not sure”

Her not-so-sure made him rethink his decision and right there at that moment, he knew this wasn’t going anywhere.“As I have never added God-fearing to my criteria before, but then right there, bro I was saved to go home (laughs). Jokingly he assumed God would be asked, “You went on a date with a woman who didn’t fear me, and now you are asking for journey mercies.”
Layi Wasabi won the best digital Content Creator At the AMVCA, ahead of Hello Neighbour – Elozonam Ogbolu, Lina Idoko and Jemima Osunde.
His nomination for the award Medical Negligence and Copyright Infringement won him the award. Speaking before the event, Layi revealed he had to win the award and thanked the organisers for acknowledging his work.
