Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, the newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, has pledged to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) reclaim Kano State in the 2027 elections.
Ata made these remarks during his first visit to Kano following his induction into the Federal Executive Council.
In an interaction with journalists, Ata highlighted the political nature of his appointment.
“My appointment was primarily for political reasons. The APC has lost Kano State, but now we will reclaim it. The main issue lies in Kano Central, and that is my home base,” he stated.
He emphasized his commitment to grassroots engagement, saying, “Even as a minister, I will continue to be active in my ward. We will put in the hard work necessary to ensure that the APC regains control of Kano State by 2027.”
Ata noted that, although he will fulfill his responsibilities at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, his focus remains on the political landscape in Kano.
“I will diligently perform my ministerial duties, but I intend to visit Kano State weekly to support efforts aimed at securing the state for the APC,” he added.
The minister expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, describing it as an opportunity not just for himself, but for the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
He pledged to the President that Kano would be won back by the APC in 2027, concluding with confidence, “This is my assurance to the President.”
