Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has warned members of his cabinet against performing below expectations.
Naija News reports Diri issued the warning on Thursday during the 130th session of the State Executive Council, at the Government House, Yenagoa, stating he would not hesitate to wield the big stick on anyone who does not perform.
The governor said his administration’s policies and programmes were positively impacting the state, imploring the cabinet members to key into the vision of providing service to the people of the state.
Speaking on the ongoing construction of the Nembe-Brass road, the completed Sagbama-Ekeremor road, building and equipping of science, technical and vocational schools, among other projects and policies in different sectors across the state, Diri expressed delight that the residents of the state appreciated the projects.
He expressed optimism that the new commissioners would perform well as they were carefully chosen based on their pedigrees.
He also charged them to work as a team in order to achieve the administration’s agenda.
He said, “You have joined this executive council at a moment so much is expected of us. You are our eyes and ears in the ministries.
“Any member of the state executive council that does not work in tandem with the policies and vision of this government, we will wield the big stick. You are all men of integrity as you were carefully chosen and we believe that you will perform well.”
