In a display of unwavering loyalty amidst internal turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Austin Akobundu, representing Abia Central senatorial district, has declared his commitment to the party.

Speaking to journalists in Aba, Abia State, Senator Akobundu emphasized that he would not consider leaving the party, crediting the PDP for much of his political career.

His remarks come at a time when the PDP is navigating through significant internal conflicts that have seen factions within the party at odds over various issues.

Senator Akobundu, who has also served as the national organising secretary of the PDP, reassured party members and supporters of his continued presence and support.

He expressed a strong resolve to contribute positively to resolving the party’s challenges and preparing it for future electoral contests.

He said, “I won’t abandon the PDP; the party has done much for me. I don’t know about others. This is the time to work for the party. I can’t abandon the PDP when the party needs me.

“This is payback time for the party, I won’t leave PDP. Even if I am going to be the only one standing I won’t mind. You know my training and you know where I am coming from. I will fight for the PDP and I will stand with the party.”
