Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has noted that he would be surprised if the club’s former coach, Jurgen Klopp agrees to be the head coach of England.

Jurgen Klopp spent about eight years at Liverpool and was the coach behind the rise of Alexander-Arnold who graduated from the club’s academy under his watch.

The coach decided to resign from coaching the Premier League giants at the end of last season and he is currently in his home country, Germany, enjoying his time away from football.

Even though he had told reporters before his departure from Anfield Stadium that he wasn’t planning to return to coaching anytime soon, he has continued to be linked to jobs across Europe.

When coach Gareth Southgate resigned from his role as the head coach of England following a second-placed finish at Euro 2024, Jurgen Klopp was mentioned to be one of the candidates for the job.

While commenting on the possibility of Klopp being named his coach in the Three Lions of England, Alexander-Arnold admitted that he would like to work with the German tactician again but wasn’t expecting that to happen, according to Daily Mail.

The Liverpool defender said: “I enjoyed every moment I worked with him, we shared amazing memories, forged an amazing relationship, an amazing bond. So of course, if that were to happen, we would pick up where we left off. I would be surprised if he did take it (though).”

“It was clear when he announced when he was leaving, the conversations I have had with him, everything on social media, he seems to be enjoying his time off, so it would be a huge surprise.”
