The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has returned an ambulance to the Yabo community in Sokoto State, following its recovery during the commission’s Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative.

ICPC National Commissioner for Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States, Garba Tukur-Idris, presented the vehicle to the Chairman of Yabo Local Government Area on Tuesday in Sokoto.

Tukur-Idris explained that the ambulance was originally part of a health clinic project initiated by former Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency representative, Abubakar Danbukari, but was discovered during the ICPC tracking exercise at the lawmaker’s residence.

“All necessary investigations were completed. The vehicle and its accessories have been kept intact at the commission’s office,” said Tukur-Idris, adding that it is now handed over to the community for public use.

Tukur-Idris urged the local council, healthcare workers, and community members to ensure the responsible use of the vehicle, pledging continued ICPC support.

He highlighted that CEPTI has saved Nigeria hundreds of millions of naira through the recovery of incomplete projects, which often leave communities vulnerable to security risks.

He also emphasised the essential role of the private sector and civil society organisations in monitoring project implementations, pointing out that completed constituency projects provide tangible democratic dividends for grassroots development.

In receiving the ambulance, Yabo Local Government Chairman Muhammad Abubakar expressed appreciation for ICPC’s swift response to public complaints, commending the commission’s commitment to fighting corruption and pledging the judicious use of the vehicle.
