Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has pleaded with the people of the state to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Naija News reports that Oborevwori, a governor on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, made the plea while speaking at the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) event held in the state.

Oborevwori said Tinubu supports his administration, stressing that the President’s failure will amount to his failure as Delta State Governor.

He said, “I want to appeal to the Urhobo nation today, I’m saying it here, I’m an Urhobo man, and I’m the Governor of Delta State.

“But I will tell whether you like it or not, I want to say it here, Mr. President that you see is supporting this administration.

“God has made him the President as God has made me the Governor. So as you are supporting me, support him, because if he fails, I will fail. But he will not fail, I will not fail.

“Mr. President has appointed our sons and daughters into positions. God has given him victory. You people should support us to succeed.”

Oborevwori’s remark comes a few days after berating the former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, for applauding President Bola Tinubu-led Government economic policies.

Naija News learnt that Omo-Agege, while speaking at an APC event, asserted that Tinubu’s economic policies have led to increased federal allocation to State and Local governments, rising economic growth rates, declining imports, higher exports, and higher incomes for farmers.

Omo-Agege was also quoted as saying that despite the huge Federal allocation coming to the Delta state due to Tinubu’s economic policies, there are no meaningful projects or developments to show.

The former Deputy Senate President also accused Oborevwori of mismanaging Delta State funds and paying debts with what was left, despite increased federal allocation and revenue from 13% derivation.

In response, Oborevwori, in a statement signed by his Executive Assistant on New Media, Felix Ofou, said Tinubu’s policies have unleashed unprecedented hunger, poverty, and mass unemployment on Nigerians.

Oborevwori kicked against fuel subsidy removal and floating of the naira, saying whatever gains the subsidy removal would have brought had been swallowed by naira devaluation and galloping inflation.

Oborevwori further stated that Tinubu’s economic policies are not a desirable model for Delta State.
