Imbibe Value Of Service, Leadership Not Just Political Position – Politicians To Youths

Nigerian youths have been advised not to see political positions as all there is in leadership and to imbibe the value of service.

The call was made on Friday by political stakeholders who spoke in Enugu at the South East Governor Forum Youth Leadership Development and Values Reorientation Programme.

Enugu State Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, thanked the Convener and General Director of SEGOF, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Ifeanyi Ossai in his address said youths must see leadership from the angle of rendering services and not occupying political positions.

“Leadership is not just about holding political office but about serving others and making positive impact in the spaces where we find ourselves and it is imperative that young people begin to imbibe the values of service, integrity, empathy, and resilience in leadership,” Ossai said.

Enugu Deputy Governor advised South East youths to maximize what has been taught in the leadership training programme and speeches from stakeholders.

He said it was an opportunity for youths to enhance their leadership skills.

“It is highly commendable that young people in the South-East are given this invaluable opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, learning from leaders in various spheres across the region,” Ossai added.

On his part, Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Ikechukwu Ekweremadu said the training for youths was important in the hope to build leaders with integrity and innovation.

Ekweremade said South East governors through the programme showed that empowering youths and driving positive change remained invaluable.

“Today’s gathering reaffirms the youth’s determination to step up and make a difference. Leadership is not just about holding positions; it’s about our actions everywhere we find ourselves as individuals. Let’s not solely depend on government; let’s apply today’s insights in our communities.

“Together, let’s pioneer positive transformations,” Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Enugu State, said.

Also present in the leadership training were Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe – Abia South Senatorial District and commissioners of youths and sports from South East states.
