All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and aspirants in the forthcoming Local Government elections in Aboh Mbaise LGA were on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, hosted by notable APC chieftain, Dr Ugorji O. Ugorji, as part of his efforts to galvanise support for the ruling party’s victory at the polls.

In attendance at the meeting/interactive session held at the former Commissioner’s country estate at Lorji, which was convened out of his usual tradition of rallying behind the party, were all the chairmanship and councilorship aspirants in Aboh Mbaise LGA, as well as key leaders of the APC.

Ugorji echoed his earlier remarks, at a high-level meeting between Aboh Mbaise stakeholders and Governor Hope Uzodimma in November 2023, highlighting the two categories of public servants and their inherent values as either those who enter public service to see what they can get, or those who come to give.

On his stewardship to Imo State, Ugorji, who served as Governor Uzodimma’s pioneer Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, stated: “All I have ever done in Aboh Mbaise is give.”

Pointing to the regrouping of APC’s political adversaries in Aboh Mbaise, Dr. Ugorji said that the APC needed to be even stronger and more cohesive as 2027 approaches. He opined that internal party democracy will be critical in party building and cohesion, and offered to continue being a unifying figure for the party in the local government and Mbaise Nation in general.

He saluted the bravery and resourcefulness of all the Aspirants in the twelve wards of Aboh Mbaise, and wished them Godspeed in the party primaries, scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024. Dr. Ugorji prayed that at the end of the primaries, each Ward will have a respected representative and Aboh Mbaise LGA will have a credible, formidable Chairman.

Dr. Ugorji congratulated Governor Uzodimma for his decision and commitment to the election of Local Government Chairmen and Councilors on September 21, 2024. He also commended the governor for his numerous achievements in his second term, and wished him greater success in governance.

Expressing gratitude for their support during his own time as Commissioner, Dr. Ugorji told the leaders and aspirants that he remained a proud member of the 3R Shared Prosperity Political Family of Governor Uzodimma, and thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve him and the state in the new Ministry of Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs.

The gathering was chaired by the LGA Chairman of the APC, Sir Tony Awusaku, while the Owerri Zonal Chairman of APC, Hon. Justice Ogu, was the Special Guest. With envelopes provided by the IHEATU POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE, the host, Dr. Ugorji extended well-received logistics support to the leaders and aspirants who attended the meeting. He promised to host the eventual candidates of the APC after the primaries.
