Intensify fight against illicit drugs, Abia NDLEA commander tells officers

The Commander, Abia State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Adelanwa Adetunji, has tasked 34 newly promoted officers of the command to leverage their experience to intensify the fight against illicit drug use in the state.

Speaking shortly after decorating the officers at the NDLEA state command headquarters in Aba on Monday, Adetunji said their decoration followed approval by the Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen Buba Marwa (retd.).

He said the promotion has marked a significant milestone for the agency’s personnel, adding that heightened responsibilities accompany the promotions.

He urged the officers to display exemplary leadership qualities, maintain strict discipline, adhere rigorously to the agency’s extant rules and regulations, and demonstrate unwavering professionalism in their duties.

The state commander underscored the importance of adapting to the evolving digital landscape, encouraging officers to enhance their skills and qualifications to stay ahead in today’s technology-driven world.

He expressed confidence in the officer’s abilities to excel further in their careers.

While commending their achievements thus far, he encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and more promotions, ensuring they contribute effectively to the agency’s mission.

“This event not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also reinforced the NDLEA’s dedication to fostering a capable and skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of today’s complex law enforcement landscape,” he said.

The newly promoted officers adorned in their new ranks, vowed to uphold the NDLEA’s commitment to national security and also look forward to continued success and contributions to maintaining law and fighting the War Against Drug Abuse.
