International solo bike rider Joy Ebaide gets warm reception from Edo government

It was sweet homecoming penultimate Sunday for Edo born, Joy Ebaide, who rode solo on her bike from Mobassa, Kenya to Nigeria.

The young Edo born singer, from Ubiaja, Esan South-East crisscrossed several countries through the Trans-African highway on her motorcycle after setting off on March 11, 2024, in Mobassa, Kenya capital.

Alighting from her bike into the waiting arms of the Hon. Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Uyi Oduwa Malaka and Permanent Secretary, Iryn Omorogiuwa Esq., including staff of the Ministry, Joy was visibly estastic over the warm welcome expressed by Edo people who she considers as her first love.

Also on hand to welcome the history making singer, was the Hon. Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Engr. Ifaluyi-Isibor, who was full of praises for Joy, for her bravery in conquering fear.

The reception also drew admirers in the creative space including Head, Edo Film Project, Eseosa Kabat, Actor and Producer, Henry Legema, artists and Social media influencers while the State Art Council dance troupe added colours to the welcome party.

The Hon. Commissioner who was full of admiration for Joy Ebaide’s ingenious ability, conveyed the fatherly love of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, to the international bike rider and worthy ambassador for setting history, not only making Edo State and Nigeria proud but the Edo girl child who has continued to live up to expectations.

“His Excellency Godwin Obaseki is very proud of you saying that with your feat, more female folks would be motivated. The present administration will continue to support both individuals and groups particularly talented youths who are willing to go into the creative sector and become useful not only for themselves but to the society”, the Commissioner said.
