‘It may get out of hand’ – Adamawa Police Command warns against planned protest

The Adamawa State Police Command has once again cautioned members of the public to shun the planned nationwide protest, noting that the exercise may turn against even the protesters themselves.

“Adamawa State Police Command does not encourage protests because of its potential to get out of hand,” the Command said in a statement passed to newsmen Sunday morning by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.

The Command, which had earlier during the weekend held a meeting with Adamawa stakeholders and appealed against the scheduled protest, reiterated in its statement that any protest that will lead to maiming or loss of lives or destruction of public or private properties is unacceptable.

“The proposed nationwide protest has the potential to go wrong and turned into violence by thugs; that is the hard truth,” the Command stated further, urging all residents of Adamawa State to avoid anything that could lead to harming themselves and others.

“Please, think and act wisely. Never embark on an action that has the potential to get out of hand,” the Police stressed.
