It Will Be Suicidal For My Artiste To Release Song Same Day As Wizkid, Asake – Don Jazzy

Ace Nigerian music executive cum CEO of Mavin Records, Micheal Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, has revealed why he does not allow his artistes to release songs or projects on the same day as their colleagues, Wizkid and Asake.

Naija News reports that Mavin Records has stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy on its radar.

In an interview with Nigerian Youtuber, Fisayo Fosudo’s podcast, Jazzy said releasing music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake would be suicidal and will postpone his artiste’s new project release to a later date.

He said, “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].

“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”

My Relationship With Don Jazzy

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian musician, Korede Bello has opened up on his relationship with his former record label boss, Don Jazzy.

The singer stated that he still has a strong relationship with the Mavin Record label Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He disclosed this during a recent interview on TVC’s “Your View Pidgin.”

When the ‘Godwin’ crooner was asked about his relationship with Don Jazzy after leaving Mavin Records and pursuing a solo career, he responded, “When you go into a relationship, it’s best to go into that relationship with a person who would never be nasty on bad days. The quality of people you go into relationships with matters. I’m not a troublesome person, neither is Don Jazzy, so when our contractual agreement ended, we still had our relationship intact.”

Bello emphasized the importance of balance and understanding one’s journey, stating that although he is no longer officially with Don Jazzy, they will always be family.

While on the show, the singer received numerous compliments from fans across the country, who praised his new album, “KoreDay.”
