JDPC Trains Women, Youth On Sustainable Agriculture

Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC), Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan with support from Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) has trained 60 persons with disabilities (PWDs), women and youth of Southern Kaduna on sustainable agriculture as part of its psychosocial support and trauma healing for communities affected by conflicts.

JDPC during the capacity Community Action for Peace and Socio-economic Development (CAPSED) project yesterday in southern Kaduna distributed 20 bags of organic fertilizers and 40 briquette stoves to the participants.

The project officer, Mr. Williams Biya explained that 60 persons comprising 40 women and young girls, 20 men and young boys were selected from kurmin masara, Zango Urban, Goska and Dangoma communities of Jama’a and Zangon Kataf LGAs to participate in the programme.

According to him, the programme is an intra activity that will help farmers and herders affected by conflict to be counseled and empowered with the necessary tools that will aid their livelihood and to safe the environment.

Mr Biya encouraged the participants to step down the training to other members of their communities, urging them to be peace ambassadors.
