The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has tasked the federal government to urgently make the roads safe and devise alternative means of conveying highly inflammable petroleum products, stressing that every Nigerian life matters and must be preserved.

The political group stated this condoling with families of those who lost their lives in the fuel tanker explosion at Majiya town, Taura local government area, Jigawa State in which over 150 people died and several others injured.

In a statement, the national chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said IPAC is deeply pained and shares the grief of the families that lost their loved ones in the fatal explosion, adding that words are not enough to assuage their sorrows.

“Council prays to Almighty Allah to comfort them and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses and quick recovery for the  injured,” he said.

He observed that in recent times, the nation has witnessed several fuel tankers’ accidents and explosions that claimed hundreds of lives mostly those scooping fuel.

He urged the federal government to take urgent steps to make the roads safe and devise alternative means of conveying highly inflammable petroleum products, saying the life of every Nigerian matters and must be preserved.

He said citizens should also desist from scooping fuel at accident scenes, and the Road Safety Corps should enlighten the people of the danger inherent in such practice.

“IPAC stands with the government and people of Jigawa State in this trying period. Together, we will make Nigeria safer, better and greater for citizens,” he said.
