Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha after an initial setback.

Bayern first attempted to sign Joao Palhinha last summer but the deal collapsed at the last minute of the negotiation process.

Unlike the previous summer, the German Bundesliga giants were able to secure their target earlier today, July 11, 2024. They paid the sum of £42.3 million, including add-ons to complete the move.

Joao Palhinha signed a four-year deal with Bayern which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Recall that the 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder played for Fulham between 2022 and 2024. He joined the Premier League club from Sporting Lisbon for a transfer fee worth £17 million.

In his debut season at the club, Palhinha won the club’s Player of the Year award. He scored 8 goals in 79 games in all competitions for the Craven Cottage-based side before he moved to Bayern Munich.

After completing his move to the German Bundesliga giants, Joao Palhinha said: “This is one of the happiest days of my life.

“I’m now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe. It’s a dream come true for me, and I’m very proud of that.”

Palhinha is the third A-list player Bayern have signed from the Premier League this summer after the arrival of Michael Olise and the permanent deal offered to Eric Dier who spent last season at the club on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
