Jos School Building Collapse: PDP Consoles Mutfwang, Parents

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has consoled Governor Caleb Mutfwang and parents of students who died or got injured as a result of the Jos school building collapse on Friday.

PDP on Saturday described the incident as sad. The party regretted that the sad incident brought agony, sorrow and pain to parents and Nigerians.

The statement signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, commended the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang for swift intervention.

It read: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is grief-stricken over the tragic collapse of a school building in Jos, Plateau State capital leading to the death of scores of bright and promising young students with many others injured.

“Our Party is deeply distraught by this very sad incident which has brought agony, sorrow and pain to students, teachers, parents, families, the Government and people of Plateau State and the Nation.

“Indeed, the heartrending death of these young Nigerian children who left their respective homes to school in search of knowledge and pursuit of their dreams and aspirations came as a huge blow to our nation and humanity and we pray that their death will not be in vain.”

Debo added, “Our Party commiserates with Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and stands in prayers with the teachers, parents, siblings and families of the victims as well as the injured at this trying time.

“The PDP commends Governor Mutfwang for his swift intervention for search and rescue operation, recovery and provision of all necessary emergency aids including prompt evacuation of victims and medical assistance to the injured.

“The PDP prays for the repose of the souls of the dead, divine consolation for the bereaved and speedy recovery of the injured.”
