A Bauchi State-based journalist, Hafsat Adebayo, in a coma at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), needs N5 million for brain tumour surgery.

A once lively, passionate reporter with an online medium, Hafsat had been battling a brain tumour for four years and was severally admitted at JUTH and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).

Her elder sister, Aishat Abdulhamid, said a clinical examination conducted on her revealed that she is in dire need of an urgent brain tumour surgery to save her life.

“She had sought medical help at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), but her condition kept deteriorating due to her inability to bear the medical expenses.

“She had suffered a lot. We have spent all our savings. Friends, family and colleagues have also tried to support us,” Aishat said while wheeling Hafsat around.

Our correspondent reports that Hafsat had surgery last year with the support of the Bauchi State government and her colleagues, where the tumour was evacuated, and she was recovering at home, but suddenly, her condition deteriorated.

Aishat added, “As we speak, she cannot eat, talk and walk for more than a week. The consultant told us that she will have the operation this week.

“We appeal to Nigerians to assist us. May God bless you.”
