A former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Hon. Onofiok Luke, has congratulated Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on her appointment as Chief Justice of Nigeria, saying that with her experience, the Nigerian judiciary will reach new levels of efficiency.

Luke, a lawyer, said in a statement that Kekere-Ekun’s appointment was a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the legal profession in the country.

The former speaker of the Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly expressed hope that the new chief justice of Nigeria will usher in reforms that will empower the judicial workforce and improve working conditions.

“My Lord, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your appointment as the chief justice of Nigeria.

This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of your outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the legal profession in our country.

“I have no doubt that you will usher in reforms that will empower the judicial workforce and improve working conditions. The recent assent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the bill for an upward review of the salaries and emoluments of judicial officers is a milestone that I believe will have an even greater impact under your leadership.

“This commitment by the executive underscores the persistent advocacy efforts over the years, including those during my tenure as chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary.

“As you embark on this new chapter, I pray that God grants you the wisdom, courage, and strength to lead the judiciary to even greater heights. I am eagerly anticipating the significant reforms during your tenure that will strengthen the rule of law and enhance the image of our justice system,” he said.
