Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to be sidelined after sustaining a calf injury during Friday’s training session.

A statement from the club’s website titled “Bellingham Medical Report” confirmed the news.

“Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored,” the statement read.

Bellingham will miss La Liga matches against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Real Betis, as well as England’s Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in September.

“Bellingham took a knock, and we’re evaluating it,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told a press conference earlier on Friday.

The midfielder was instrumental for Madrid last season as they secured both the Champions League and La Liga titles.

However, multiple reports are speculating that the player could be out for about a month.

Bellingham, an English footballer born in 2003, began his career at Birmingham City, becoming their youngest first-team player. He later moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2020, where he emerged as one of Europe’s top midfield talents.

In 2023, Bellingham transferred to Real Madrid, making him one of the most expensive British players. He is also a key player for the England national team, having represented his country in major tournaments like the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup.
