Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano State have apprehended one of the key masterminds behind the abduction of Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) praise singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara.
The successful raid, which took place in the Makarfi bushes in the neighbouring Kaduna State, also resulted in the death of one suspect and the recovery of N26.5 million cash.
A source within the State Command of the secret police revealed that the tactical team acted on reliable intelligence to locate and disrupt the gang of five bandits as they were sharing the ransom proceeds.
“One Hamisu Tukur is currently in custody with gunshot injuries, while Bature was killed in the operation,” the source disclosed.
LEADERSHIP reports that the singer’s 75-year-old mother was kidnapped three weeks ago when armed men stormed her residence in Kahutu village of Danja local government area in Katsina State.
The kidnappers had demanded N900millon ransom from the singer shortly after abducting Hajia Hauwa’u.
The 75-year-old endured 20 harrowing days in captivity before finally being freed few days ago.
