JUST-IN: Police Invite NLC President Ajaero For Questioning Over ‘Terrorism Financing’

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has invited the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, subversion and cybercrime, against him.

In a letter dated August 19, 2024, addressed to the NLC President, and signed by assistant commissioner of police, ACP Adamu S. Mu’Azu, for the deputy commissioner of police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the police authorities asked Ajaero to report at the IRT complex, old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, at 10am on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, for an interview.

The police also warned that it will not hesitate to activate a warrant of arrest against the NLC president if he failed to honour the invitation.

Part of the letter of the IRT unit reads that: “This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion and Cybercrime in which you were mentioned.

“You are therefore invited to interview the undersigned on Tuesday 20th August, 2024 by 10:00hrs prompt, at IRT Complex, Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team Leader with telephone no 08035179870 in connection with the above investigation.

“Be informed that in the event of failing to honour this letter, this office will have no alternative than to activate a warrant of arrest against you please.”

Efforts to get the Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to speak on this proved abortive as he did not respond to his WhatsApp messages or calls.

It would be recalled that the NLC and the police have been having a running battle after the Nigeria Police invaded the NLC secretariat in Abuja looking for sponsors of the #endbadgovernance protesters.
