Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima departed from Abuja on Wednesday, heading to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Naija News understands that the second Nigerian citizen is scheduled to participate in the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources 2024 conference.

This significant event is scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 2, 2024, at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre.

According to a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Shettima’s trip is made possible through an invitation from Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.

The statement, titled ‘VP Shettima Leaves For Abidjan, To Attend SIREXE 2024 Opening Ceremony,’ highlights the importance of the SIREXE conference, which is organized by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and aims to address “Policies and Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries.”

“The VP will utilise the event to share Nigeria’s experience in the hydrocarbon exploration and production sectors,” Nkwocha noted.

However, Shettima is expected to return to Abuja later today (Wednesday).
