Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani, has urged residents of the state to live in peace, love, and unity, emphasising that development can only be achieved through harmony.

Sani made this call at a Christmas carol organised by the state chapter of the  Christian Association of Nigeria at ECWA Good News, Narayi Highcost on Sunday, where he celebrated with Christians and reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive administration.

“We must checkmate the antics of ethnic and religious bigots who divide us along ethno-religious lines for their selfish interests.

“We must live in peace, love, and unity, and work together to reposition Kaduna State to its former glory. There can be no development without peace and harmony, and I am committed to ensuring that our state remains a place where everyone can live freely without intimidation due to their tribal or religious affiliations,” he said.

The governor acknowledged that Kaduna State has faced setbacks in the past due to ethnic and religious bigots who divided the state along ethno-religious lines for selfish interests.

However, he emphasised that his administration is committed to running an inclusive government that treats everyone equally, regardless of their background.

He said, “When I took the oath of office, I promised to treat everyone equally, irrespective of their religious, tribal, or political affiliations.

“I am Governor for everyone that lives in Kaduna, be you a Muslim or Christian or from any background. I will continue to work towards ensuring that our state remains a place where everyone can live in peace and harmony.”

Governor Sani emphasised the importance of Muslims and Christians living together and working towards a common goal of repositioning Kaduna State to its former glory.

He also noted that both he and President Bola Tinubu were working to extend economic prosperity to everyone, stating that “poverty has no tribe, it has no religion”.

“We must work together to reduce the level of poverty in our state and create jobs for our people.

“There are many intervention programs that we can extend to our people, but that can only happen when we agree to continue living in peace and harmony.

“I am committed to working with our Pastors, our religious leaders, and our community leaders to ensure that our state remains a place where everyone can live in peace and prosperity”, Governor Sani said.

He also commended the collaboration between Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and CAN in maintaining peace in Kaduna State.

He recognised that not everyone may be happy with his efforts, but emphasised that the majority of people are pleased with the progress being made towards the state’s development.

He added, “I am happy to see that both JNI and CAN are working together as one family to maintain peace in Kaduna State. This is an important achievement, and I commend the Secretary of JNI for attending this Christmas Carol event with me.

“I can tell you that some people are not happy, but the fact remains that we took an oath, and those who are not happy may be the minority. The most important thing is that the majority are happy because we are working towards the development and progress of our state; for me, that is the key.”

The CAN Chairman in Kaduna State, Caleb Ma’aji, praised Sani for his commitment to inclusivity and balance.

He noted that the Governor’s presence at the Christmas Carol event demonstrates his ability to identify with people from different faiths and backgrounds.

“Governor Sani is a leader who consistently strives for inclusivity and balance. His presence at this Christmas Carol event is a further demonstration of his commitment to running an inclusive administration.

“We are happy to have him as our Governor, and we will continue to work with him to ensure that our state remains a place where everyone can live in peace and harmony.”

The Christmas Carol event was attended by Christians and Muslims from across the state, and featured music, dance, and prayers. The event was a celebration of the birth of Christ, and a demonstration of the state’s commitment to peace and unity.
