One person has been confirmed dead and several makeshift shops burnt following a violent communal clash between youths from Faruruwa and Tarandai villages in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident, which occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on May 23 during a market day in Faruruwa, was disclosed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his verified X handle on Sunday.

According to Makama, the violence erupted after a 28-year-old man, Sani Yunusa of Toho Diribo village, visited his girlfriend in Tarandai.

He was reportedly ambushed on his way back by youths suspected to be from a rival village and attacked with sticks and cutlasses.

“The clash led to the burning of several locally thatched shops in the market,” the post noted.

Security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation.

Police sources confirmed that normalcy has returned but assured that investigations were ongoing to unravel the root cause of the clash and bring the perpetrators to justice.
