Kano Gov Declares Monday Public Holiday For Islamic New Year

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, a public holiday in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, 1446 AH.

The declaration was made through a release by the state’s Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye.

Governor Yusuf called on the residents of the State to utilise the holiday as a time for reflection on the past year, and to engage in activities that would bring relief to those facing hardship.

He reassured the public that his administration remains dedicated to implementing policies and programmes aimed at empowering the populace to become self-sufficient.

“The governor urged Muslim Ummah to intensify prayers for continued peace and progress in the State,” Dantiye stated.

Governor Yusuf also expressed optimism about the future, emphasising that with the prayers and support of the people, his administration would be able to transform the state’s fortunes.

The statement further stressed that the governor aspires to see Kano return to its position as one of the most economically prosperous states in the nation.
