Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, on Tuesday, donated 78 patrol vehicles to the State Police Command in recognition of their ongoing efforts to enhance the state’s security framework.

The launch of the vehicles took place at the Government House in Kano.
Yusuf expressed his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the state and reiterated his support for the security forces.

He said, “As we gather here, let me remind you that the primary responsibility of any government is to provide security. The critical role of the police in maintaining law and order is undeniable. That’s why my administration is dedicated to supporting police efforts.

“The donation of these 78 patrol vehicles to all police divisions in Kano State demonstrates our commitment to ensuring safety and a conducive business environment in the state. I extend my deepest appreciation to other security agencies for their unwavering commitment to security in Kano State. Your collaborative efforts have been invaluable in maintaining peace and stability.”

In his remarks, the State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, thanked the governor for the donation.

The CP noted that the new patrol vehicles were crucial in complementing
the command’s security efforts, especially at a time when commercial activities in the state are rapidly growing.

Garba said, “It is my honour and pleasure, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to be here for the launch of 78 new patrol vehicles provided by the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the security operations of the Kano State Police Command.

“This is a memorable event in the history of community policing in Kano State, as it sets a roadmap for all to recognise the Kano State Government’s efforts in combating crime.

“Words are insufficient to express our gratitude for His Excellency’s prioritisation of security and commitment to advancing community-based policing in the state. The peaceful atmosphere we enjoy in Kano State today is due to His Excellency’s relentless efforts as Chief Security Officer.

“The Kano State Police Command has 11 area commands, 78 police divisions, 20 tactical units, and 100 police outposts that strengthen security and respond to distress calls. The patrol vehicles have arrived at a time when commercial activities and population growth in the state are increasing.”

The CP assured the governor that the new patrol vehicles would “motivate us to continue to serve the people of Kano State as we pledge to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Your Excellency, sir, like Oliver Twist, we ask for more of this support to aid us in our responsibilities.”
