Kano Holds LG Elections In November

The Kano State Independence Electoral Commission (KANSAIC) has announced that the local government elections will be held in the state on November 30, 2024.

Chairman of the commission, Prof Sani Lawal, who stated this at a press conference yesterday in Kano, said preparations for the election, according to the time table, will commence August 15, 2024.
He also warned that he would expose anybody that approaches him with money intending to bribe him.

“Specifically and by this notice, Release of Guidelines and Notification of polls starts from Thursday 15th August Saturday 31 August 2024; Campaign by Political Parties from Friday 6th September – 12 midnight of 29th November, 2024.

“Parties Primaries and Submission of names of Candidates to the Commission from Thursday 19th September 2024 – Monday 30th September 2024; Sales of Forms starts from Tuesday 1st October Wednesday 16th October 2024;

“Submission of all completed Forms must be on or before Friday 18th October 2024; Verification of Candidates by the Commission and submission of names of Party Agents by Political Parties will take effect from Friday 18th October – Friday 25th October 2024;

“Release of names of qualified and non-qualified (if any) Candidate(s) will be on Friday 25th October 2024; Replacement or change of Candidate(s) or any other change thereof starts from Friday 25th October – Friday 1st November 2024; publication of names of eligible candidates by the commission will be on Thursday 28th 2024;

“Election day will be on Saturday 30TH November 2024; From 30th 1st December 2024 the Commission will Declare Election Results. Runoff Election(s) if any will be on Saturday 14th December 2024” he stated.

He further explained that the commission reserves the right to disqualify any deviating candidate while warning against any form of election violence and other electoral offenses.

Lawal finally enjoined political parties to field candidates “who are honest, selfless, prudent, community oriented, responsible and responsive, and those who are truly agents of change.”
