The governor of Kano state, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, is aware that the interim management of the Nigeria Premier Football League side, Kano Pillars has been dismantled, according to the governor’s chief of staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi.

Reports went viral last week that the interim management board of Kano Pillars led by Alhaji Babangida Umar Little has been sacked with immediate effect.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Kwankwaso took the decision earlier in the month.

Afterwards, a statement was expected from the state government to guarantee that the decision was from the state’s executive. However, the state government didn’t make a statement concerning the decision for days giving room for speculations that the governor was not carried along.

On the contrary, during a media chat in Kano, Sagagi told reporters that the state commissioner for sports is the supervisor of Kano Pillars, and the club is under the commissioner’s control.

“The commissioner for sports is the one supervising Kano Pillars, they have to be subordinate to him, what is always expected from him is to exercise due diligence at all times,” the chief of staff said.

“The commissioner did not act without the approval of the governor, he has made his submissions to the governor and he is waiting for approval.”

Note that Kano Pillars, who are former champions of the NPFL, finished in the 11th spot on the league table with 52 points in 38 games, 6 points away from the relegation zone.
