The Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Jobe, has sanctioned a modification to the previously announced 24-hour movement restriction affecting the Dutsinma Local Government Area and an additional 33 Local Government Areas within the state.

Naija News reports that this adjustment to the Dutsinma curfew was made following a report indicating an improvement in the security conditions of the region.

Initially, the curfew was set from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

During a meeting of the State Security Council held on Monday evening, the Deputy Governor instructed that the prohibition on unusual gatherings and all forms of protests should continue to be enforced across the state.

He commended the security personnel for their composed response to the individuals who exploited the peaceful protests to engage in criminal behaviour.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to parents, guardians, and community leaders for their efforts in advising their children and youth against participating in the actions of the miscreants.

In related news, the State Security Council has reported the arrest of several youths linked to the recent incidents of violence, looting, and the destruction of both public and private property.

Following the Council’s meeting, the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Faskari, announced that some of those detained have already been charged in court with offences including criminal conspiracy, public disturbance, vandalism, and theft.

In a statement released on Tuesday, signed by his Director of Press, Malam Abdullahi Yar’adua, Barrister Faskari reiterated the Security Council’s appeal for the public to remain calm and adhere to the law, assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of lives and property.
