Super Eagles striker Olanrewaju Kayode has shaken off his marital disappointment to score his first goal for new club Sanliurfaspor in their Turkish 1. Lig 3-1 defeat to Fatih Karagumruk on Monday.
Kayode, who terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor to attend to his marital issues, put his team in front on 26 only for the visitors to rally back to secure the maximum points in the Game Week 6 fixture at Şanlıurfa 11 Nisan Stadium.
The 31-year-old, who played for Genclerbirligi in the Turkish second tier last season, was replaced in the 80th minute of the encounter, which was his third start in as many games.
Kayode represented Nigeria U-17 at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, earned his first call-up for the Nigeria U20 team for the qualifiers to the African Youth Championship in Libya the following year, was called up for the African Youth Championship in South Africa in 2011, and made his debut for the senior team in a 1-1 draw with Senegal in 2017. He is without a goal in four outings with the Super Eagles.
