The residents of Warrah and Ngaski communities in Kebbi State have sent a ‘save our soul’ appeal to the state governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, over the deplorable condition of their road.

Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent said the condition of the road is having a negative effect on the economy of the two communities.

Mallam Idris Bello, a resident of Ngaski while speaking with Arewa PUNCH said, “This road needs to be looked into by the state government.

“We know Mr. Governor is doing his best in terms of road construction and rehabilitation  across the state, but we from this zone are also appealing for his urgent intervention on this road.

“A lot of vehicles that ply this road to the southern part of the country have diverted to another area because of this bad road,” he stated.

Also speaking, Mr Kasim Abubakar, a motor parts dealer in the Warrah community, said the deplorable condition of the road has almost crippled the economic situation of the community.

He stressed that the people of warrah known for farming can no more get their goods to the market of their choice due to bad road network.

However, Abubakar appealed to the state government to, as a matter of urgency, reconstruct the road from Macraine – Nngaski – Warrah to give residents of the communities a good sense of belonging.

Arewa PUNCH recalls that due to the bad condition of the road, motorists travelling to the southern part of the country now prefer to drive through Ibeto – Auna road which also is in a terrible shape but tolerable even though its a longer route to ply when compare to the Nngaski – Warrah road.

When contacted, the state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdullah Umar-Faruk Muslim disclosed that the contract for the construction of the road has been awarded by the state government.

According to him, “the contract for the road has been awarded to Epsilom Sky Global Limited.

“The MD of the company was in my office on Monday morning to discuss some issues, and I can assure our people in the area that any moment from now, the contractor will mobilise to the site and work will commence immediately,” he added.
