Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, on Wednesday, presented a proposed 2025 budget of over N580 billion to the Kebbi State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The proposed budget, tagged the “Budget of Economic and Infrastructural Consolidation,” prioritises capital projects, which account for N453 billion, while recurrent expenditure is set at N127 billion.

Speaking during the presentation at the Assembly chambers, Gov Idris disclosed that the state expects to generate N235 billion from statutory allocations and an internally generated revenue (IGR) of N26 billion.

He expressed satisfaction with the steady improvement in Kebbi’s IGR, describing it as a positive indicator of the state’s financial health.

Idris stressed that the proposed budget focuses on critical areas such as agriculture, mineral resources, infrastructure, social welfare, and youth and women empowerment.

He added that the budget also aims to promote good governance and institutional reforms across the state.

“Our administration is committed to enhancing food security, as demonstrated by the free distribution of fertilisers to farmers. In addition, we have empowered 65,000 people with N100,000 each to help them become self-reliant,” the governor stated.

The governor lauded the Federal Government for handing over the construction of the Koko-Dabai-Mahuta Road to Kebbi State.

He assured that the state government would soon flag off the construction of the road, which is expected to boost economic activities and connectivity in the region.

Idris also appreciated the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, noting that their synergy has contributed to the state’s developmental strides.
