Kidnapped Ex-Akwa Ibom School Principal Regains Freedom

A retired secondary school principal, from Ikot Abasi Akpan village in Mkpat Enin local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ezekiel Paul, adducted last Sunday in his country home, has been freed, it was  gathered yesterday.

Armed hoodlums who seized him while preparing for a church service at Saint Pius X – Parish according to his elder brother, Augustine Akpan, had  earlier demanded N20 million ransom before reducing it to N5 million, but he did not say if the demand was met before his freedom early yesterday.

“Akparawa Ezekiel, was released early this morning by his kidnappers and he will be taken to hospital for rest and treatment.

“We thank the police for their efforts and all those who had prayed with us throughout  the difficult period for his safe release,” Akpan, an Archbishop of the African Church, said.

Police spokesman ASP Timfon Johnaid the man was freed unhurt and had since been re-united with his family.
