Popular Nigerian skit maker and actress, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, has opened up about her path to fame, describing it as a journey marked by persistence and passion.

Speaking on the TTM Show hosted by Tobi Makinde, Kiekie described herself as a “late bloomer,” revealing that she started creating content as far back as 2013, but only gained mainstream recognition in 2020—seven years later.

“My story is unique because I sometimes call myself a late bloomer. It literally took seven years to gain the spotlight,” she said.

Kiekie disclosed that during those early years, she supported her content creation by working other jobs, particularly as a fashion stylist. She notably styled Nigerian singer Simi before her breakthrough in digital entertainment.

Her first viral moment came in 2018 with the launch of her Fashion Shock Show, which gradually opened doors to influencer gigs and wider recognition.

“I was once Simi’s stylist. Some of those who had known me before I became popular as a content creator would remember that. My first viral content was the Fashion Shock Show that started in 2018,” she recalled.

Now widely celebrated for her comedic skits and vibrant personality, Kiekie credits her eventual success to consistency and staying true to her craft.

“The moment I hit the spotlight in 2020, it just continued like that,” she said, highlighting how years of groundwork finally paid off.
