The Kogi State Government has presented an additional 10 refurbished operational vehicles to security agencies to combat crime and criminality.

This follows the distribution of the second batch of 100 operational vehicles to security agencies in the state by Governor Usman Ododo in October 2024, at the Government House in Lokoja, the state capital.

Presenting the vehicles to the security agencies in Lokoja on Thursday, the Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Abdulraheem Ohiare, disclosed that the agency would continue to provide logistical support for security agencies in the state.

“Security is everybody’s business. I must appreciate God and thank His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for making funds available to the Kogi State Security Trust Fund. Without funds, we cannot achieve anything. We are fulfilling our constitutional duty to provide logistical support for security agencies in the state. What we did today is part of what we have been doing for a long time.

“Today, we are giving out 10 operational vehicles. What makes this unique is that the Nigerian Army has not been included for the 11 months we have been in office. But today, by the special grace of God, we are giving out four refurbished vehicles to the Nigerian Army.

“The governor has given us a directive to ensure that, as a matter of urgency, all operational vehicles of the Nigerian Army are on the road by January. That is our goal. By tomorrow, they will bring another four vehicles for us to refurbish. By the first week of December, I can assure Kogites that another four refurbished vehicles will be given to the Nigerian Army.

“We have set up a committee in our office, led by the Director of Administration, the Publicity Secretary of the agency, and our internal auditor. These teams are responsible for monitoring the vehicles we have refurbished in the state. I assure the public that proper monitoring will be done to ensure the vehicles are put to good use,” Ohiare explained.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Kogi State House of Assembly Committee on Security, Major Enefola, lauded the agency for its achievements, saying, “The people are happy with the management of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund. Insecurity will soon be a thing of the past in Kogi State.”

Receiving the refurbished vehicles, the head of Operation 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Maj. Garuba Mohammed, commended the agency’s efforts, stressing that the Nigerian Army would not relent in flushing out criminal elements from their hideouts.
