The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State at the weekend unveiled the leader of the commercial motorcycle (okada) riders association as its candidate for the September 21 local council election in Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA).
APC presented the candidate, Abdulazeez Jimoh, a former councillor, former council vice chairman, and former APC chairman in the council at the flag-off of its campaign in Irepodun local government.
He was presented to the party faithful by many party chieftains and government officials, including the Commissioner for Information, Bola Olukoju, at Omu-Aran.
His Director General (campaign), Prof. Bashir Ibrahim, said APC was out to present the best for the area, describing Jimoh as a tested and trusted indigene of Omu-Aran with an intimidating record of service in the area.
According to the retired lecturer in the Department of History and International Relations, University of Ilorin, Abdulazeez is just what this local government needs to prosper; he’s also what our APC needs to win this election, adding that his candidate was the former Chief Whip as a councillor.

Speaking with journalists, Abdulazeez admitted that the hard economy would no doubt play a vital role in the approaching election.
“The sorry economy will not affect me and my team because elections are no longer determined by party; they are now won by individual popularity and trust,” he boasted.
The member representing Irepodun Constituency in the State Assembly, Olushola Odetunde, said all the APC candidates for the contests wouldn’t have problems, “because the state government has done credibly well, even beyond expectations and desires.”
An APC chieftain, Ibrahim Adedoyin, expressed confidence in the former national treasurer of commercial okada riders to win next month’s contest, saying: “APC has never lost in this state,” adding: “The governor has assured us all with his several developmental projects across the state.
“The records of the governor will earn us the sought victory; he has done a lot of infrastructural development in the state, and the people are just waiting for the opportunity to pay him back, and this they will do by voting APC next month,” he said.
